You're probably wondering why the tittle "The Gray Hour." It's a quote I heard in a novela called La Reina Del Sur, very good and based on a true story. Anyway, throughout the entire series, the main character repeats this quote, "The Gray Hour. It's the time I will die. It's the time when it's not day or night. The time where you don't know if you're living or you've died." I fell in love with it. So it's actually from a poem written by Ana Belkis Puello Brito. It's written in Spanish but I will translate it.
Translation... Gray when the sun is dying and dawn is born It is when the day ends and it begins, life ends And it starts, the time between good and evil. There is no day without night, without beginning or end. It is when you don't know if you live or you've died If you start or finish. The time is gray at dawn to see the start of a new day for good or ill. Gray when the night is falling and you see a dark world. But with the possibility of light. The time is gray when it's not night or day. I love it. The end and the beginning. Something you can live by. Many opportunities and many possibilities. A time for second chances. It's 2016, and like always people post their New Years resolutions. It's interesting to see if people actually follow thru. I dare you, go to someone's Facebook page and read it. Just pay attention to what they say and see if they actually follow thru. We don't, I considered myself part of that group of people, not anymore. It's all talk it doesn't really mean anything until you do something. ACT! Don't just say it but do it. Life is too short to be anything but happy, live the life you Always wanted. A life where you can be yourself. A life where it doesn't matter what you do but just be happy, I think that is my major goal in life. No matter what I do or who I'm with, I just want to be happy. What if your not living and your actually dead, just like the poem says. How do we really know we're alive? Live everyday and end everyday like if it was your last day on earth. Live with no regrets. Don't wait until New Year's Eve to start "the new you." You are who you are and we can't change that. We can only change our actions. Start tonight or tomorrow. No matter when or why, as long as you are happy then nothing else matters. I already started my beginning. There was a point in my life where I've felt sad. Searching for answers too many many questions. I've not only finally had my questions answered, but I discovered myself along the process. And let me tell you it's a wonderful feeling. I've learned to love and accept myself for who I am. And most importantly being honest with myself. I think that was my biggest challenge. Staying true to myself, I stopped living in a world of lies. I will explain in depth later. But I'm happy I did. Maybe I wasn't living and I've been dead this entire time. And now my life begins...

En serio es una poema maravillosa. But my question is, is the gray hour a certain time because I thought it was, also is it before or after midnight?

I don’t think it’s a certain time. It can be whatever time you want it to be.

Grey time is right before 5am in the last minutes of 4am, it looks so dark that you can think it's the middle of the night, that's why it matches the quote, I'm pretty sure the author was in a hard moment couldn't sleep, woke up at this time, found strength and got this inspiration...

I also searched for Terasa’s quote and came across your page. I, too, have always felt this was a special time before the surrounding world wakes up but after the late night party goers have already left, when the night cabs have already gone home and buses havent yet left to start the day. It’s a time - a moment, really - in which anything can happen, but you dont yet know which way it’ll go. Will it be bad, scary and gloomy or good and filled with sunshine.
